FAQ

  • What is your overall process for installing stone countertops?

See the Our Process page for the timeline of a project from start to finish.

  • What is required to schedule my project and receive an installation date?

Once your signed contract and deposit are received an installation date will be assigned, your stone will be reserved, and all required materials will be ordered.

  • Once I sign my contract what is the typical wait time until installation?

While each project is unique, the average time from contract to installation is 2-4 weeks. This time is necessary for acquiring the materials for your project, templating, fabrication and installation.

  • Why do you make a template of the countertops, and how long will it usually take?

We create templates of countertops to ensure precision cuts. Our laser templating process provides the highest level of precision when measuring. We use these measurements to ensure your cabinets and appliances will properly fit together with countertop installation. Completing a project template will take an average of 2 to 3 hours.

  • Will I be able to select the slab to be used for my project?

Yes, we encourage you to personally select the slab for your project. Stone is a natural product so each slab will be unique in color, detail and movement. Selecting the perfect stone for your project is a key step in creating a kitchen or bath you will love.

  • What is the standard countertop overhang?

The standard overhang of all exposed countertop edges is 1 1/2″. If you would like additional overhang on a countertop, island, or raised bar, you must be present this information when we are taking the field measurements. All measurement and specification-related information must be given at the time of the measurement for accuracy.

  • If I have an overhang of more than 6″ on a countertop or raised bar, do I need supports?

Yes, any stone that has an overhang of at least 6″ on a countertop or raised bar needs to be supported by brackets. We will advise you of how many you will need and what size they need to be. These brackets must be on the job site at the time of the installation.

  • What is the procedure for slide-in stoves, drop-in cooktops, and downdraft vents?

All slide-in stoves, drop-in cooktops, and downdraft vents are required to be on the job site at the beginning of installation so that cutouts can be completed and appliances checked for proper fit.

  • What is the procedure for using either an undermount sink or a drop-in sink?

If you plan to use an undermount sink, it should be available at the time of your template appointment or delivered to our fabrication shop AT LEAST ONE WEEK prior to your installation date. The sink rim will be cut, shaped, and polished during fabrication. All cutouts required for faucets or fixtures will be completed during installation. All faucets or fixtures must be at the job site at the start of installation. When using a drop-in sink, we require the sink to be on the job site at the start of installation. Drop-in sink cutouts must be completed once the countertop stone is in place and secured.
